Your Consumer Guarantees
Under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, you have the right to expect that goods purchased from Marine Deals:
- Are of acceptable quality
- Are fit for their intended purpose
- Match the description given
- Are free from defects
You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if a product fails to meet these guarantees.
Marine Deals Warranty
In addition to your Consumer Guarantees, many products sold by Marine Deals come with a manufacturer's warranty. These warranties' specific terms and duration may vary, so please refer to the product documentation or contact us for details.
Making a Claim
If you believe a product you purchased from Marine Deals is faulty or not as described, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We will assess your claim and, if valid, provide a remedy by the Consumer Guarantees Act and the manufacturer's warranty.
Need a Return or Replacement?
If you wish to return your product or require a replacement, the fastest way is to lodge a request with us. Once your request is lodged, we will check our records and contact you as soon as possible.
Essential Notes on Remedies:
- Within three months of purchase: If a product is faulty, you generally have the right to choose a refund, replacement, or repair.
- After three months: We will try to repair the product where possible rather than offering a refund or replacement. This is in line with the Consumer Guarantees Act, which allows for reasonable remedies to be provided. It also means less landfill.
Returning Goods for Evaluation
If we require the goods to be returned to our shop for evaluation before providing a warranty remedy, we will cover the cost of the return shipping. However, if the product is found not to have a fault, we reserve the right to charge the return shipping cost back to the customer.
In-Store Returns
Please note - we are more than happy to receive you items in store, and many things we can deal with immediately, however, we also have a reduced team on weekends - and if we need to contact the supplier about the issue, this will generally take a day or so to process, so please don't be offended if we can't process the return immediately.
Important: Inspect Your Goods on Arrival
Please inspect your goods upon delivery for any signs of damage. If you discover any damage, please notify us within seven days of receiving the goods. After seven days, we may consider the damage to have occurred after delivery, which could affect your warranty claim.
Things to Note
- This warranty policy does not limit or exclude your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
- Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.
- Marine Deals reserves the right to inspect any product before accepting a warranty claim.
- The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, or normal wear and tear.
