It is very important to understand that only Califonts installed as per the manufacturer's instructions will be warrantable. Additionally, installing them in other ways may cause risk of fire and explosion.
Specifically, changing the electrical wiring system, potentially creating a spark and ignition risk near where the gas piping system is going into the unit creates the potential for a fire if there is any gas leak.
We have seen a couple of installations where the customer had someone install the unit for them, did their own wiring and created a fire that caused property damage. As this installation did not use the supplied cabling and piping, and the installer reconfigured where electrical feed went into the unit, a small gas leak caused a major issue.
If you have an installer wanting to change anything from standard, please ensure they are qualified to do so, and prepared to warranty and back up their work, should something go wrong.
